Forza Horizon 5

Forza Horizon 5 has been out over a year now and has won the hearts of many racing game fans thanks to its good looks and exciting gameplay. The game is a feast for the eyes, it is a true spectacle. Forza has been a staple for racing games since the release of the progenitor, Forza Motorsport, and Forza Horizon 5 only raised the bar. This game was released for Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, and PC. The game also had a day one release on Xbox Game Pass, where the Standard Edition is still available. Add-ons have to be purchased separately though.

Breathtaking race areas

Forza Horizon 5 unfolds in Mexico, and is set in different, breathtaking race areas. Every part of the map in this video game has its own characteristics, and because of that Mexico, with its different natural zones, is the perfect setting for this game. Think of tropical areas and rocky coasts, lively deserts, and lush jungles. The marvelous racing worlds are designed down to the smallest detail, and even when you zoom in you will notice that graphics look absolutely phenomenal. Only positive things can be said about Forza Horizon 5 graphics, even just cruising around is a pleasure. Even more so now that an update (only for the PC version) introduced ray tracing to every part the game.

Forza 4 or Forza 5?

Forza 4 was already recognized as the best open-world racing game, so does Forza 5 improve on it? It does and it doesn't. Gameplay mechnics are basically unchanged, and most cars (present in both games) feel and drive more or less the same. But Forza 5 has a wider and more interesting missions, it keeps the player invested for much longer, whereas Forza 4 felt repetitive and not so exciting after a while. Also, as good as the graphics were in Forza 4, Forza 5 still manages to raise the bar. Everything more polished and realistic, and the setting is Mexico gives a sense of vastness that couldn't be found in the UK setting of Forza 4.
In the end, Forza 5 is clearly the best game and the one that players should definitely experience.

Forza Horizon 5 versions

While the Standard Edition of Forza Horizon 5 has everything the game can offer (and is available for free with a Game Pass subscription), there are DLC available that add a number of cars and several benefits to players, so it's worth it to check them out. The best bang for your buck, in our opinion, would be the Premium Add-on Bundle, which adds ALL available content to the (free) Standard Edition. But let's have a look at what is available :

  • Forza Horizon 5: Car Pass: It adds a total of 42 cars to the player’s garage.
  • Forza Horizon 5: VIP Membership: It grants 3 exclusive cars, a House, doubles the credits rewards and gives several other benefits.
  • Forza Horizon 5: Deluxe Edition: This edition includes the base game and the Car Pass.
  • Forza Horizon 5: Premium Edition: This is the most complete package. It includes the base game, the VIP membership, the Car Pass, the Hot Wheels expansion, a future expansion not announced yet, and the Welcome Pack.
  • Forza Horizon 5: Premium Add-On Bundle: Adds all the Premium content to the base game

Final thoughts

Forza 5 Horizon has easily established itself as the best and most good-looking open-world racing game on any platform. The recent Hot Wheels expansion kept the racing frash and interesting, and we are all looking forward to the next expansion scheduled for the first months of 2023. Rev up your engines, people, it's time to race!
