Battlefield 6: Destruction at its finest

What is Battlefield 6?
Battlefield 6 is the latest game in the beloved Battlefield franchise, known for its realistic combat and no-nonsense visuals. It is scheduled to be released on October 10, 2025, and fans are already itching to play it. Some of the reasons fans love the franchise are the tight controls, the destructible environments, the inclusion of vehicles and aircraft, and the fact that the game is visually coherent. Soldiers are dressed as soldiers, with camo suits to minimise visibility, instead of wearing flashy, colourful skins that scream “I’m here, kill me” to all enemies.
What is the plot of the game?
In 2027 the world is in chaos after a high-profile assassination leads many European nations to leave NATO. A private military corporation, Pax Armata (armed peace), is trying to seize the moment and rise to global power. What’s left of NATO, lead by the USA, UK and Egypt, steps up to foil their plans and restore freedom to the world. Players can choose to play either as NATO or Pax Armata.

An overview of the new features in BF6
Battlefield 6 boasts an impressive visual overhaul over Battlefield 2042, which was released back in 2021. The new, highly detailed graphics are a must to perfectly render all the destruction players can unleash. The roles every player can take have also been improved and made more unique, so that the experience is even more varied if playing, for example, Support instead of Assault. Player movement has also been improved for higher mobility and tactical options.
Which game modes are included?
In addition to All-Out Warfare, Battlefield 6 launches with five extra game modes. These include both familiar FPS classics and a new experience called Escalation. Each one is designed to build on Battlefield’s core strengths: team classes, squad coordination, and massive environmental destruction.
Squad Deathmatch
This is a tight, squad-versus-squad deathmatch where four teams battle it out in close-quarters combat. The goal is simple: the first squad to hit the kill target wins.
Domination
Domination is an infantry-only fight that centres around capturing and holding key objectives. The more ground your squad controls, the more points you earn. The first team to reach the score limit claims victory.
Team Deathmatch
Team Deathmatch is all about fast infantry action. There are no flags to capture or points to hold. The team that racks up the most kills wins the match.
King of the Hill
This mode puts the focus on fast, reactive play. Teams rush to control a moving point on the map. Holding the zone earns points, and working together is the only way to stay in control.
Escalation
Escalation is a brand-new mode built to showcase everything Battlefield does best. Two teams fight for control points across the map. As the match goes on, territory shrinks and control points become more concentrated. This leads to a final, high-stakes showdown for the last remaining areas, turning the map into an explosive war zone.

BF6: gameplay focused on destruction
All maps are carefully hand-crafted to perfectly fit the game mode they’re played in. The same map used in Conquest will have different features, objects and many other factors when played in Domination. But whatever you’re doing, a big part of Battlefield are its destructible environments. There are many ways to implement tactical destruction. You can knock down a wall by hand with a sledgehammer, or blow it to pieces with a C4 charge. If there are enemies on the upper floor of a building, you can destroy the floor under their feet with a rocket. Or you can simply drive your tank through walls and whole buildings to create a path for your teammates. The world is your destructible oyster!
How does the new Kinesthetic combat system work?
Movement in a game such as Battlefield is key. That’s why in BF6 you have even more control over your mobility and tactical options. These are some of the new movement options implemented in this game:
- Drag and Revive allows you to pull a squadmate to safety while bringing them back into the fight.
- Peek and Lean gives you the advantage of looking around corners without exposing your full position. This makes it easier to plan movements and surprise the enemy.
- Combat Rolls let you move more dynamically, reducing fall damage and improving your ability to dodge incoming fire.
- Mounting Weapons lets you brace your weapon against cover to reduce recoil and improve accuracy.
- Hitch a Ride adds a creative twist to vehicle use by allowing extra players to hang on, even when all the seats are already taken.
