Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

A renewed classic

Do not be fooled, we are not talking about the first game in the Modern Warfare series from 2007, but a completely new release. Despite the confusing name, this game will not be a continuation of Modern Warfare 3, but more or less a ‘soft reboot’ of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in a modern setting. This does mean we will be seeing some beloved faces from the first game, such as Captain John Price. "We get dirty, and the world stays clean. That's the mission."

Infinity Ward is back

The Call of Duty game franchise has always had many different developers, in particular Infinity Ward (the very first), Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch. After the release of Black Ops 4 in 2018 by Treyarch, the baton has been once again handed over to Infinity Ward. It is up to them to keep the Call of Duty franchise exciting and come up with new engaging features. In addition to Infinity Warfare, they were also the developers of the four COD: Modern Warfare games. This makes Infinity Ward the perfect developer for making this reboot a success.

Campaign and multiplayer

If there is one thing we look forward to the most, it has to be the single player campaign mode. Call of Duty always knew how to offer an emotional experience with their story modes, so it was somewhat disappointing when this feature was absent in Black Ops 4. Fortunately, they have decided to delve back into the war stories with an intense and thrilling story to get you ready for the multiplayer matches. The Studio Head of Infinity Ward told us that players will be joining a varied selection of troops and freedom fighters in missions across Europe and even the Middle East.

The multiplayer game mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare should offer the most revolutionary gaming experience and online playground. The game modes do stay true to the first game with Gun Fight, Team Deathmatch, Domination and many more. As usual, killstreaks like airstrikes, UAV drones and the Juggernaut will have a big impact on the gameplay.

In addition to the single player and multiplayer game modes, there will also be a co-op game mode called Spec Ops in which you and your friends can play missions together. Lastly, unlike Black Ops 4, Modern Warfare will (most likely) not have a battle royale mode.

Yes, cross-play at last!

You read it correctly, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be the first COD game to be available for cross-play on PC and console! Even more reason to buy the game and gather your friends for a match of COD, no matter which platform they play on.
