With its open world environment and exciting action, Just Cause is a game franchise that has been running for 12 years and has created a large fan base. Just Cause 4 is the fourth instalment in this third-person action-adventure game. Rogue hero Rico Rodriquez is yet again ready to spearhead the rebellion and defeat the enemy. His mission? To reclaim the territory from tyranny and industrialisation by overthrowing the Black Hand, a hi-tech private military organisation. Quite a big task, wouldn’t you say? But with his grappling hook and wingsuit, Rico is ready to bring the thunder.

Just Cause 4 will be released on 4 December 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Enter Solís, a home of conflict, oppression and extreme weather

Just like previous Just Cause games, Rico will once again focus on one (extremely large) area. This time, a huge fictional South African world called Solís, where conflicts, secrets and other dangerous activities are just day-to-day matters. This area reaches 1024 square kilometres with exotic rainforests, vast sand dunes and snowy mountains. Overall, a huge playground to explore, from rural countryside pastures to bustling city centres. In total, Solís has four distinct biomes and is said to be the most diverse yet dangerous world ever created in Just Cause.

Uncover the truth

Rico is not in Solís for a holiday, but to uncover the truth of his father’s past life. Upon arrival, he starts his own rebellion in an attempt to overthrow the Black Hand and its ruler Gabriela Morales; a commander who would rather rule fear than to let it rule her. She will be Rico’s most fierce, capable and unpredictable opponent yet.

Beware of the Black Hand

You might remember the mercenary faction called the Black Hand from Just Cause and Just Cause 3. However, this time they are more than just side antagonists. They are now back with advanced weapons, upgraded armour and highly advanced and trained soldiers. And on top of that all, this time they get to play on their home turf.

The higher the clouds, the better the weather

The weather system in Just Cause 4 is expected to be extremely advanced and entertaining. Trailers have already shown us a black super tornado that is ripping the streets apart, thunderstorms that light up the dark sky and a dry sandstorm in the desert. The weather conditions that bring destruction to your direct environment will strongly impact your gameplay. As you can imagine, strong gusts of wind make navigating the sky in your wingsuit a lot more challenging.

Same old, same old

The gameplay of Just Cause 4 is similar to previous games in the series, but with some nice improvements. With the Black Hand as your enemy, the upgraded grappler tied to Rico’s wrist is your best friend. You can use it to make the most impressive jumps and perform stunts, or tie two objects together with the rope from your grappling hook. Two new additions to the game are Boosters (small rocket engines that power your wingsuit) and Airlifters (big balloons that you can create DIY airships with). Your gear is also a lot more customisable, and you can even switch between three sets to make some great combos.
