Sonic Mania
In 2017 Sonic the Hedgehog has returned in a whole new adventure that still has that old school feel! The way this game is set-up feels like the Sonic that we got to know during the Sega Mega Drive era. A big gulp of nostalgia for all those ‘90’s kids, but Sonic Mania will also attract new gamers. The game Sonic Mania will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Microsoft Windows.

A big gulp of nostalgia
In Sonic Mania gamers can choose out of three different main characters: Sonic, Tails and Knuckles. You will have to conquer platform levels that seem like copies of the old school Sonic levels, although they are fully new or some of them revamped. Obviously all levels have their own obstacles, enemies and boss-fights, and Doctor Eggmann is back for a new attempt to ruin our favourite hedgehog’s life, but the three main characters have new abilities to fight back; Knuckles has new climbing abilities, Tails new flight abilities and Sonic has a new ability called Drop Dash.Made by fans for fans
This new Sonic game is developed by true fans of the Sonic-franchise, e.g. Christian Whitehead, a developer who brought the classic Sonic games to new gaming platforms in order for them to get a second life and to get a growing number of fans. Headcanon also played a role in making sure that Sonic would make a come-back on current gaming-consoles; Headcanon was also the one who developed Sonic 1 and 2 in a way that these games could respawn on iOS and Android products. PagodaWest also worked ion Sonic Mania.
Sonic in 60fps-resolution
Sonic has been made by fans for fans, and that is also what this game is trying to convey, it is an ode to classic gaming and nostalgia. It is also an ode to pixels and the times when games were still very addictive. This new Sonic game shows what old school Sonic looks like in a modern 60fps-resolution, and that is one of the things that make this game worthwhile.This might just be the come-back that this ‘90’s hedgehog needed!
UPDATE:
Two new characters have been added to the game, and they are available with the Encore DLC. Might the armadillo and Ray the flying squirrel each have their own unique characteristics. The Competition Mode has also been expanded and you can now play with a maximum of 4 friends!
