3 Things we're hyped up about for Warcraft 3: Reforged
We already knew that there a remaster of the best realtime strategy game of all time was coming. During BlizzCon 2019 all highlights were presented during a Deep Dive Panel. Unfortunately, the release of the game was delayed to keep up the gaming experience we expect from Blizzard games. Nevertheless, it is now time for us to return to the world of Azeroth on January 29, 2020, where we take our stand with the Horde and the Alliance, and save our world from the Burning Legion.
What has changed in Warcraft 3: Reforged?
The team behind WC3: Reforged wanted to stay as authentic as possible to the original games (Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and Warcraft III: Frozen Throne Expansion Set). The style, charms and originality of each character had to remain the same. Nevertheless, they worked hard to upgrade the game to modern standards. A few examples are improved mod support, per-faction matchmaking and improved audio (no worries, the original voice-actings remains).
We will go through the 3 most important and striking changes in Reforged with you.
Warcraft 3: Reforged comes with huge graphical upgrades
First thing you will notice, are the all-new graphics. These have been greatly improved (4K support) compared to the original games, in which the characters, animations, structures and effects have been revised. New cutscenes have been added between the campaigns and missions.Heroes and other units are PC-friendly
In the context of Political Correctness, we are also pleased to know that you can now choose female Hero units to command your army. All PC craziness aside, it is a good move to give the player more freedom this way. Besides, it's optional, you can always disable these settings for the more authentic Warcraft 3 experience.
In addition, all units have been subject to an incredibly beautiful makeover as you can see in the images below.
A new UI for better gameplay
There are a lot of graphic changes in Warcraft 3: Reforged, but one that really affects gameplay is the User Interface. The heroes have a custom health bar, so your Liches no longer need to wander around with low health because the health bar of one of your Abominations gets in the way.
In addition, the new bar is more compact than the original, so you have more insight into your units and what happens on the map. The bar no longer runs over your entire screen, so you also have more visibility on the right side of your screen.
Your character portrait contains the new style of your unit, with stats and health (and mana) bars.
