Shadow of the Tomb Raider can be considered as the end of the second reboot trilogy of this ever-lasting game franchise. This trilogy started with Tomb Raider (2013), followed by Rise of the Tomb Raider (2015). Both games were true gems in their specific genre, and this third part promises to be mesmerizing as well. Even better, we are convinced that this final chapter in the trilogy will bring the action!
This game will be released on September 14th 2018 on PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One.
The destiny of Lara Croft
In the beginning of this trilogy we saw the young Lara Croft who is getting closer to her destiny, which is becoming the Tomb Raider. Lara started out as a scared young girl, but in this third instalment she is a young woman without fear, who can uphold herself in a game world dominated by men who do not have the best intentions. Next to the return of Lara Croft in this game, we are also going to see another character from the previous games, Jonah Maiava. This time around you will also battle Trinity again, the same organization you became acquainted with during the second game, Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Adventure in colourful Mexico
This time around gamers will travel to colourful Mexico. So, this time you will not battle it out on the dark island of Yamatai, and you will not travel to the cold slopes of the Himalaya mountains. You need to shadow a key-member of Trinity in Mexico. Apparently Trinity if looking for some fearsome relics with which they can change the world. Knowing this already puts you in front of a temple in which the relics are hidden. In short, it is time to become the fierce Tomb Raider you are destined to become!
Tools and obstacles
In this adventure you will also make use of a great variety of tools to overcome obstacles. You need to be very skilled to keep your head cool in the temples and jungle of Mexico, and to ultimately end on top. You can also make use of your pick axe, but also your trustful bow and arrow are back.
Controls
The controls of this third game in the Tomb Raider reboot franchise will feel like you have played with them before, because these controls are very intuitive. There is a button with which you can make Lara jump, a button to interact with your surroundings, and there is a button to use your pick axe. Just like in the previous chapters of the Tomb Raider saga you can also make use of your survival instinct to navigate through hard to pass environments; it also means that bright lights will shine the way to show where you have to go, and where important objects are situated. It is like the Tomb raider version of the spider-sense.
Climb for your life
You also need to climb a whole lot again in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, it will even be an important part of the gameplay of this game. New in this edition is that Lara will be able to slide down rocky walls.
