Crimson Desert is the newest game from Pearl Abyss, a Korean developer famous for its MMORPG Black Desert Online. Unlike its similarly-named predecessor, Crimson Desert is a single-player game focused on the plot and character development. In the game you control Kliff, a member of the Greymane faction. They are attacked and scattered by an enemy faction, the Black Bears. Your job as the player will be to put your Company back together and make the Black Bears pay, while navigating a period of tension and conflict on the continent of Pywel.
What genre is Crimson Desert?
Crimson Desert is an open-world action RPG with fluid, deep combat and character progression. Unlike traditional RPGs, your character will not experience a linear growth, rather acquiring new skills by obtaining Fragments of the Abyss, or witnessing them in the world. The wide variety of combat styles, from empty-handed to great swords, axes, bows and so on, ensures that players can find their preferred style and have a great time.
Is this game related to Black Desert?
Yes, the two games are loosely related. Crimson Desert was originally planned as a prequel to Black Desert, but during development it evolved into a completely separate single-player game. The two games share the setting and lore, so if you have played Black Desert you will be familiar with the world in general, but no previous experience is necessary. You can play and enjoy Crimson Desert at 100% even if you never saw its MMO predecessor.
