What is Ninja Gaiden?
Ninja Gaiden is a fortunate series of fast-paced action-adventure games featuring Master Ninja Ryu Hayabusa and his quest to save his village and the world from various dark forces. It was a huge success on Xbox, and gained a large number of fans all over the world thanks to the fast, sophisticated combat and the endless charm of playing as a ninja. After many games and spinoffs released on old Xbox consoles and other platforms, no new Ninja Gaiden games were released for about a decade. But now the Ninja is back!
What’s new in Ninja Gaiden 4 for Xbox X|S and Windows?
The story of Ninja Gaiden 4 is set several years after Ninja Gaiden 3, in a near-future Tokyo that’s been devastated by the return of the Dark Dragon. The playable character this time is not the classic Ryu Hayabusa, but the young and talented ninja Yakumo. He is part of the Raven clan, and can access powerful blood-based techniques. This game has several features that make it unique, very distinct from earlier games in the franchise and other games:
- New main character - Yakumo is a breath of fresh air, after so many years with Ryu. He is a genius ninja student, and most likely bound to become the next master Ninja. Ryu also has a role to play in the story.
- Bloodraven form - New powerful techniques held by Yakumo, who can use his own blood (and that of the enemies) to unleash devastating area attacks. Yes, there is A LOT of blood in this game!
- Lightning-fast movement and combat - Yakumo jumps from one enemy to the next with incredible speed, making most battles a blur of movement and sword slashes
- Visual fidelity VS performance - The game runs up to 60 FPS on the Xbox Series S, but on the Series X it has an option to reach an astounding 120 FPS, at the cost of some visual details.
