What is Pokémon Sword?
Pokémon Sword is the eighth generation of the Pokémon game series, released on November 15, 2019, for the Nintendo Switch. Your adventure starts in Galar, an expansive region with a diverse environment, from the countryside to modern cities and forests to snow-covered mountain peaks. Your ultimate goal is to become a Pokémon master, but you won’t be travelling alone. There are 3 newly discovered Pokémon that you can choose to be your first partner!
What are the new partner Pokémon in Pokémon Sword?
In both Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, there are 3 very adorable partner Pokémon to choose from:
- Sobble – a timid water Pokémon
- Grookey – a mischievous and curious grass Pokémon
- Scorbunny – an energetic fire Pokémon
As expected, these partner Pokémon all have their own strengths and attacks. Do you already know which one you want?
What is new in Pokémon Sword and Shield on the Nintendo Switch?
Besides having a new location in the Pokémon world to explore, Pokémon Sword and Shield also introduce a completely new phenomenon that is unique to specific locations in Galar. We are talking about the Dynamax phenomenon during which a Pokémon becomes gigantic in size and strength. This makes a battle between Pokémon and their trainers even more exciting. They will return to their original size after three turns, so make sure you use your time wisely.
What are the differences between Pokémon Sword and Shield?
As was done is previous Pokémon titles like Black & White and X & Y, Pokémon Sword and Shield will have several exclusive Pokémon that can only be caught in that version of the game. You can, however, trade these Pokémon with someone who owns the other versions. Do you need help making the right choice? These are the exclusive Pokémon you get with the Sword edition: Deino, Zweilous, Hydreigon, Jangmo-o, Hakamo-o, Kommo-o, Gothita, Gothorita, Gothitelle, Rufflet, Braviary, Farfetch’d, Sirfetch’d, Mawile and Turtonator. In addition, both versions have their own Legendary Pokémon as seen on the cover, and for Shield that is Zacian!
