What is Headbangers: Rhythm Royale?

Headbangers: Rhythm Royale is an online-only musical Battle Royale game where 30 people/pigeons challenge each other in a variety of rhythm-based minigames. Only the best scorers of the first phase get qualified for the second one, and so the flock gets cut down until only one pigeon reigns supreme. The game features 23 different minigames, they certainly won’t become boring too soon. You can play with friends or complete strangers, as long as the required number of players to start the game is reached. Unfortunately, probably due to the design of the minigames, Headbangers can only be played online, with no option for local co-op. Too bad, it would have been a really fun game for groups of friends. We also feel sad for the poor pigeons, left without their coop…

When will it be released? On which platforms?

Headbangers will be released on October 31st on all the major gaming platforms: Windows, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and X|S, PlayStation 4 and 5. A special mention for the Xbox release, because the game will be included in the Game Pass from day one. Talk about a coo-ality move from the developers, we like this kind of news! Another good thing is that the game will be completely cross-platform, so it won’t matter on which platform you are going to play it, you will be able to play Headbangers together with your friends running it on different gaming systems.

Be cool as a cucumber with hundreds of stylish items

Beating people in multiplayer games is all good, but you can only strut around if you do it in style. Headbangers: Rhythm Royale delivers style in spades, with hundreds of items to visually customize your pigeon. With every game you play you earn some Crumbs, which you can spend to buy glasses, hats, costumes, voices, taunts and more. Adorn yourself with cool sunglasses or a cowboy hat, wear a chicken mask or a game controller or a TV screen with Worms playing on it! No two pigeons will be alike, that’s for sure! Upgrades are not limited to costumes either… while you play you can collect various kinds of powerups to improve your game or screw up opponents. It’s a ruthless world!

Some details about the minigames

Headbangers features 23 different minigames of all sorts. Let’s have a look at some of them, to see what’s in store for players.

• Garden Party has players reproduce short fragments of music. Make too many mistakes and you’re out!
• In Guess It! players have to correctly guess which of the several instruments on screen plays the notes you hear.
• When you play Fitness you have to copy the movements of your coach’s neck. And do it in sync with the rhythm!
• Super Striker will fling balls at you, the goal is to hit them in rhythm.
