What is Donkey Kong Bananza?

Donkey Kong Bananza is the first Donkey Kong game released on the Switch 2, collecting great praise from the gaming community. The game size, the variety of game mechanics and the graphic redesign of Donkey Kong himself made Bananza a masterpiece of modern gaming. The goal of the game is to recover all the precious bananas stolen by the evil VoidCo. while smashing the environment to bits.

What is the DLC “DK Island & Emerald Rush”?

This product, DK Island & Emerald Rush, is a paid DLC that expands the original Donkey Kong Bananza game by adding the new location DK island and a whole new game mode, Emerald Rush, to the already expansive world of Bananza. Being an add-on, it requires players to already have Donkey Kong Bananza on their Switch 2 in order to work.

What do you do on DK Island?

This new DLC for Bananza features a fan favourite location, DK Island, straight from the first Donkey Kong Country game on the SuperNES. Most players will just be happy to revisit such an iconic location, featuring the house of Donkey Kong and several other characters. DK Island can first be visited during the game after you reach the Racing Layer. But until the end of the main game, DK Island is just a nice place to chill and little else. Things get more interesting in the postgame, when it will host the first part of the Emerald Rush mode (later levels will be set in different Layers).

What is the goal of Emerald Rush mode?

Emerald Rush is a roguelike series of challenges, where Donkey Kong and Pauline need to collect as many Emeralds as possible before the time runs out. The trick is that Kong has been stripped of all the abilities learned during the main game, but he can recover a random skill by finding a Banandium Gem, in addition to Emerald Perks that can help improve the score. The Recovered skills and the Emerald Perks are different in each run, making the DLC highly replayable. You can expect in-game events to be featured on a regular basis, to keep things fresh and interesting.

Can I play this expansion on Switch 1?

No, DK Island & Emerald Rush is a DLC for Donkey Kong Bananza, which is an exclusive game for Switch 2.

Do I need a Nintendo online subscription to play Emerald Rush?

Yes, if you want to play Emerald Rush online by sharing the controls with a co-op partner you will need a subscription. That will not be necessary, though, if you only play single-player or engage in local co-op. It works the same way as the main game. The good news is that, if you need to buy or renew Nintendo Online, we sell that too.
