What is Super Mario Galaxy 1+2?

Super Mario Galaxy 1+2 is a remake collection of the two “Super Mario Galaxy” games originally released for the Nintendo Wii. Both games were innovative and highly entertaining, introducing gravity mechanics which allow Mario to run sideways or even upside down on small planets and asteroids. Now you can play both these classic masterpieces on your Nintendo Switch, with updated graphics and features.

Visit several galaxies in Super Mario Galaxy

In this game, Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach and steals her whole castle, heading for the sky with the goal of creating his own Galaxy. Team up with the mysterious Rosalina and the star-like Luma, and travel through different galaxies to reach Bowser and thwart his evil plans once more. During his travels Mario will collect power-ups that grant him special powers, like the Boo Mario (float and pass through walls) or the Ice Mario (skate over water and lava) forms.

Back to the stars with Super Mario Galaxy 2

Guess what? Bowser doesn’t give up and kidnaps Peach AGAIN, taking her to the center of the universe. It’s up to Mario, Luma and Yoshi to follow him across even more galaxies and save Peach once again. This time Mario will have access to even more powers in addition to the ones found in the first game, and Yoshi can get some too!

How does co-op work in this game?

The Super Mario Galaxy games are single-player games for the most part, but they offer a limited form of local co-op. Mario will always be controlled by the first player, but if a friend joins with a second Joy-Con they can control a pointer on-screen and help Mario by zapping enemies and collecting Star Bits. Can I play this game on Switch 2?

Yes, thanks to backwards compatibility almost all Switch games can be played on the Switch 2. But Super Mario Galaxy 1+2 takes one step further and will receive a free upgrade for the Switch 2, so that you can play it in even higher resolution, 1080p in handheld mode and 4K in TV mode.
