What is Star Wars?
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, a great cinematic universe was created. The Star Wars story is all about the ongoing battle between the Jedi Knights, who use the Force for good, and the Sith Lords, who use it for evil. There have been nine movies made so far, split into three trilogies, plus loads of spin-off movies, TV series, books and games. What sort of game is Star Wars Outlaws?
Star Wars Outlaws is an open-world game, the first of its kind set in the Star Wars Universe. It aims to provide players with an immersive experience in the outlaw underworld of the much-loved saga. The game is set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. This is a time when the Empire has conquered all opposition and the Rebel Alliance is hiding, biding its time. Players will take control of young scoundrel Kay Vess and her pet companion Nix. Together, they'll navigate the criminal underworld of the galaxy, looking to put together a team to pull off a big heist to pay off her debt. The action steers away from the Force conflicts. There are no Jedis in sight, and Kay acts more like a green, inexperienced Han Solo than any all-powerful, self-righteous hero. Players have the freedom to explore as they like, and most missions can be completed in a variety of ways. You can sneak up to the objective unseen or persuade/bribe someone relevant. You can also go in guns blazing, but it's rarely a wise approach – or fun. The game is playable on Xbox series X|S.
Manage your alliances with care!
There are a number of different groups in the galaxy's criminal underworld, and each player's decision will have a positive or negative impact on Kay's reputation with them. If you have a high reputation with a faction, you can usually access restricted areas and buy specific items. If you have a low reputation, it's harder. You might even get a bounty on your head from a hostile faction! What you do affects the world around you. But loyalty is fluid, and you can always regain good standing with a faction or betray them. Just be warned, they're as likely to betray you!
