What is Dragon Age: The Veilguard for Xbox Series X and S?
Veilguard is the 4th main game in the Dragon Age RPG series. It is the first new game in 10 years, after Dragon Age: Inquisition back in 2014. Like all games in the franchise, Veilguard offers a richly detailed world filled with clashing factions, romances, monsters and treasures to be found. The player’s goal is to find companions and assemble a team (the titular Veilguard) to face the hordes of evil and save the world. Dragon Age games traditionally focus heavily on player choice, so you can expect that your actions and decisions will have a lasting effect on the world around you.
What is the story of Dragon Age?
In the world of Thedas people are faced with a recurring threat. Corrupted beings known as Darkspawn are constantly in search of an Archdemon, the incarnation of one of the Old Gods that were banished ages ago. When they manage to find one, a Blight happens, a mass invasion of Darkspawn that could wipe out the mortal world, if not stopped in time. During the first game of the series players barely managed to stop the Fifth Blight but now, due to the events of the previous game, two more Old Gods have escaped their prison and threaten to destroy the world!
What does the Standard Edition of Dragon Age: The Veilguard include?

Which new gameplay features does Veilguard have?
The Dragon Age game franchise may be almost 20 years old now, but Veilguard is a very modern game that takes full advantage of both the modern technical and gameplay advancements and of the series outstanding lore. These are but a few new features that players will enjoy:
- Highly detailed character creation: you can design your main character however you like, including physical features, scars and tattoos, pronouns, background and origins, and much more.
- Real-time strategic fighting: battles progress in real time, and can be played out in a simple hack-and-slash manner, but is is usually more fun (and more effective) to pause the action and give commands to your companion, to set up devastating combos and gain the upper hand on tougher opponents
- Panromantic relationships: romance between characters has always been one of the core points of Dragon Age. In Veilguard every character can become interested in any other character, regardless of race and gender. Players can romance whomever they like most, and plot to set up couples however they see fit.
Can I play Veilguard if I never played the previous Dragon Age games?
You absolutely can play Veilguard without a single worry about the past games. The story is set over 10 years after the events of the previous game, and while some characters will undoubtedly return, the game will be sure to update you with any information you may need.
