What is Skate.?

“Skate.” (the full stop is part of the title) is the latest entry in a fortunate franchise of videogames about skateboarding, launched in 2007 and now at its fifth iteration. The new game launched in Early Access on September 16, 2025 and is set in the fictional city of San Vansterdam. Players can explore and roll in four different districts, each with its own characteristics and vibe. The nice thing about this game is that it’s completely free-to-play, so players can grab it and start skating today without paying a cent.

What does it mean that the game is Early Access?

It means that Skate. development is finally advanced enough for the game to be released to the public, but it is bound to receive important upgrades in the future. No, the game is purely skill-based. The items you can buy with SV Bucks are exclusively cosmetic, they change your appearance but have zero effect on the way you play. Bucks will let you buy shirts, shoes, boards and other cosmetic items, but none of them will have any effect on your gameplay. You’ll look rad while skating, though.
