The Apocalypse has reached the sunshine state of California! Dead Island 2 continues where its predecessor has stopped; this is no coincidence because the first Dead Island game was a great success, and the sales of this zombie game went sky-high. Dead Island unfolds in a great designed open-world where the beauty of its nature and the bloodiness of the zombies seem to be in conflict with each other. In short, hell and paradise have never been so close to each other as in this Dead Island game! A couple of months after the outbreak of the first Dead Island game, the American army has put the state of California under quarantine. From a beautiful, sunny environment California has become a bloody zombie battlefield; as good as deserted, but full of bloodthirsty zombies. The people who have been left behind in the state of California are individuals who are looking for fame, adventure and a new beginning, and you, as a gamer, can become part of this group.

This time around the action is not limited to the fictional island of Banoi: the zombies moved to the big city, Los Angeles, which is now aptly renamed Hell-A. This change in setting, coupled with the fact that now players have 6 main characters to choose from, makes for an exciting new modern adventure. The place is huge, and you get to visit real-life places like Bel Air, Beverly Hills and Hollywood Boulevard among others. All of them will be infested by zombies, though, so you better be prepared to shoot, smash and stomp your way through!

Zombie-smashing galore

Speaking of zombies, the whole point of the game is to kill them in the most exciting way. You can shoot them in the head, of course, that is the classic old-fashioned way to deal with them. It’s also the most boring one. Why not bash their skulls in with a modified baseball bat? Or set them on fire? Electrocute them? Cut their limbs off and stomp their heads when they are helpless? Or enrage a big powerful zombie and let its furious attacks destroy the smaller ones nearby? In Dead Island 2 your imagination is the limit: if you can think of a way to dispatch zombies, odds are you can do that. Truth be told, this game excels at bringing out the most violent, sadistic side of players… it’s great when you need to relieve stress!

In Dead Island 2 you can avoid the full extent of the zombie Apocalypse by using self-made weapons, because of these weapons you can get into the coolest battles, actions and role-playing games. The action in Dead Island 2 runs from the Golden Gate Bridge up to the sunny beaches of Venice Beach, so your gaming environment is huge.

Three's company

Like in all the best adventures, the more the merrier. Up to three people can play together, choosing their character from the available roster of 6:

• Amy - fast and agile runner, she keeps her cool in every situation. Like a zombie plague is an everyday occurrence…
• Bruno - The hustler, he keeps his wits together and is the tactical slayer of the group. Expect lots of backstabs!
• Carla - The mechanic, strong and resilient, she is built like a wall and hits like a ton of bricks.
• Dani - The badass, this no-nonsense derby roller gets up close and personal with a hefty dose of brutality.
• Jacob - The stuntman, the rockstar, he kills zombies with flair!
• Ryan - The exotic dancer, he’s not overly fast or strong but is great at evading and retaliating.

Note that multiplayer in Dead Island 2 is not cross-platform, but it IS cross-generation. Meaning that Xbox and PlayStation users cannot play together, but PS4 and PS5 (for example) can join in the same game.

A fun game NOT for all the family!

If what you’re looking for is a deep, engrossing story then Dead Island 2 may not be the game for you. But if all you want is fun, exciting action you need to look no further than this game: it’s exciting, it’s overly graphic, it’s spectacular, it’s violent and it’s over the top! Not really recommended for young kids, though: the age rating is 18!
