Hogwarts Legacy - The Best Harry Potter Game Yet?
Developed by Avalanche Software, Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive open-world Harry Potter game launching in 2023. From the trailers released so far, it looks like everything you could possibly want from a wizarding game. With stunning graphics and a shockingly realistic virtual version of Hogwarts, playing Hogwarts Legacy is the closest thing yet to actually being a wizard! Discover a Brand New Story Set in the Wizarding World
Countless Harry Potter video games have been made over the past decades, the majority based on the books, but none of them is quite like Hogwarts Legacy. Unlike most Wizarding World games, Hogwarts Legacy doesn’t follow Harry Potter at all and, in fact, is set about a century prior to the events of the books. Hogwarts Legacy takes place in the 1890s and tells an exciting brand-new story in the same world that you must play the game to discover.
Explore Classic Harry Potter Locations
Although Hogwarts Legacy doesn’t follow Harry, it does contain all the classic locations of the books, such as Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade . . . and needless to say from the name, the iconic castle of Hogwarts. Recreated in gorgeous graphics, everything in the game world is an absolute delight to explore. In the trailers we’ve seen what it is like to wander around Hogwarts in-game, and the attention to detail is simply incredible. You can go anywhere you want in the castle, such as the four common rooms, without any load times at all.
Duel It Out in Wand Combat
One of the most exciting things about Hogwarts Legacy is its advanced wand and magic combat system. Players will be able to learn famous spells such as Accio and Avada Kedavra, and then fight with all sorts of enemies such as the fearsome Dementors and Inferi. It’s not as simple as spamming attack spells to win; defensive ones are just as important to triumph. In this way, Hogwarts Legacy represents the first time Harry Potter’s magic system has been fleshed out with this much care and attention to detail in an RPG video game.

Of course, being a wizard isn’t just about duelling. Hogwarts Legacy offers all the classic wizarding pursuits such as broom riding, brewing potions, taming magical beasts and more. There isn’t much the developers haven’t considered in recreating what it would be like to be a wizard studying at Hogwarts during the 1890s. Hogwarts Legacy has it all.
