These Pokémon are confirmed in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Excitement is rising for Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the latest Pokémon game developed by Game Freak. The title is different from previous games such as Pokémon Diamond & Pearl. Furthermore, Legends Arceus seems to focus on a familiar world, set in an older era. Yes, you go back in time to an area that will later be known as the Sinnoh region. Let's see what Pokémon await us in Hisui!

Hisui Regional Forms in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Hisuian regional forms are the new type of Pokémon that appear in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Like previous regional Pokémon from the Galar and Alolan regions, Hisuian variants differ from their original counterparts in both appearance and type.

Currently, five regional Hisiaun forms have been announced: Hisuian Growlithe, Voltorb, Zorua, Zoroak, and Braviary.

Hisuian Growlithe. The Hisuin variant of Growlithe isn't just a fire-type: it's also a rock-type! As soon as you see this variant, we notice that it is based on the Chinese guardian lions (Foo Dogs). Hisuian Growlithes work in pairs - a nod to these Foo Dogs - and has a stone horn on its head. It takes some time to gain this fluff’s trust, but once you do, you have a strong partner by your side!

Hisuian Voltorb. This one was already announced in December, with the notable feature that it is both an Electric- and Grass-type Pokémon. Similar to Growlithe, it has two opposite types. By now we are used to this since several of the newer generations of Pokémon also have opposite types. The Hisuian Voltorb has the same shape as the original one, with the exception that it is partially made of wood. Hisuian Pokéballs also have this same appearance!

Hisuian Zorua and Zoruak. These two Pokémon have an interesting backstory. Hisuian Zorua are descendants of the original Zorua who migrated to the Hisui region after being driven from their homeland. Unfortunately, they could not handle the colder climate so they all died, and their remaining souls turned into a Ghost-type Pokémon. They gather power by disguising themselves as exact copies of a human or Pokémon they encounter and feeding on the fear of the victim in question.

These illusions become more powerful when the Hisuian Zorua evolve into a Zoroak, with this Pokémon expressing its hatred and malice towards the world. However, Zoroak are very protective of a Hisuian Zorua and can, with great difficulty, find trust in a human.

Hisuian Braviary. The Hisuian Braviary is a Psychic/Flying-type Pokémon that evolved from Rufflet. When winter falls, this Pokémon flies to the far north where its psychic powers manifest in powerful shock waves. It is also believed that it can use this psychic power to unlock a sixth sense, putting it into trance to enhance its physical abilities. In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, you can use Hisuian Braviary to fly over the Hisui region. Use this to your advantage, as you can spot new Pokémon and items in flight!

All-New Pokémon in Legends Arceus

In addition to the regional forms, 3 new Pokémon have been announced so far that will make their debut in Arceus. These are Wurdeer, Basculegion, and Kleavor. Wurdeer is an evolved form of (Hisuian) Stantler and is a Psychic-type Pokémon. Basculegion is the evolved form of Basculin and is a Water/Ghost-type Pokémon. Kleavor is a Bug/Rock-type Pokémon and is the result of a Hisuian Scyther interacting with a specific type of mineral... Very mysterious!

Noble Pokémon: Shiny or Frenzied?

Very little is known about Noble Pokémon, only that these are Hisuian Pokémon that have received a special "blessing" and roam in specific areas. The people of Hisui have great respect for these powerful Pokémon and have designated special wardens who keep the territories and the Noble Pokémon that live there safe. They are not like Shiny Pokémon but are likely more a spin-off of the earlier Gigantamax Pokémon from the Galar region (Sword & Shield). Whether it is also a temporary form, or permanent, is unknown.
