4. Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaire Conspiracy
Professor Layton game series are fun puzzle games, where you have to solve a mystery every time by solving puzzles. The games are developed by LEVEL-5 and were always well received by the public. In the latest game, it's Layton herself who is missing, and you go in search to solve the mystery surrounding her disappearance.
The game can be played both on your TV, as on the Nintendo Switch as a handheld. Please note that the controls change slightly as you can't use the touchscreen features on your TV screen. The new game has more puzzles and different types of exercises. You can now also draw pictures, complete images and do math.
A minor disadvantage of this game is that the puzzles are sometimes too difficult for young gamers, so you need to give them a hand in some exercises. But overall, the game is a great pastime and it just looks really pretty.

2. Gorogoa
Gorogoa is a game that may not have gotten enough attention, that's why he got a well-deserved second place in our ranking. Gorogoa is a beautiful game where you are taken on a journey through imaginative worlds. The game is fairly intuitive and simple, while still challenging you. You play puzzles in the form of sliding panels, you can enter a new environment when you put the puzzle panels in a certain order. An example is making a ladder by using train rails. Sounds cryptic, but once you start the game, the puzzling will come naturally.

1. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
And now, we finally unveil our number one for the top brain teasers! Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is a puzzle game that came out for Wii U a few years ago. Due to the console's lack of popularity, this game didn't get a chance to prove itself. Now it's back out for the Nintendo Switch and we're taking our chance right now!
For years we've seen Toad as a sidekick, but in this game he's the lead! His beloved Toadette is kidnapped and Toad will do anything to save her. There are different levels, but the objective is the same each time: find the three diamonds and the gold star at the end of the level. You'll find additional challenges by searching for the hidden items, such as a golden mushroom.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is a game suitable for young and old, where you will have 6 hours of gaming fun (or longer if you are a fanatic and want to reach 100%). A disadvantage of the game is that it sometimes feels repetitive because the key objective is actually the same in every level. However, it's a unique Mario game in which you get to see the Mario universe from a different angle.
